Storyline (Spoilers Included)
The Tenant by Freida McFadden is a Fast-paced Psychological thriller about a young man, Blake Porter, who was living a quiet and peaceful life with his fiancée.
Suddenly, his life takes an ominous turn when he abruptly gets fired from his job as the vice president after being accused of leaking some files. Unable to pay his mortgage, he and his fiancée Krista settled on renting a room.
After interviewing many potential renters, Whitney Cross, a young, beautiful, and charming woman in her mid-twenties, seemed like a perfect candidate.
She’s exactly what Blake is looking for, or is she?
Something isn’t right.
Soon after Whitney moves in, the atmosphere changes into being eerie and strange. The neighbour’s attitude toward Blake soured as they started to give him the cold shoulder.
Weird noises snap him out of sleep in the middle of the night. There’s a persistent smell of decay in his house.
Blake grows increasingly paranoid, feeling like he’s losing his mind. He feels as if someone knows his secret and is ready to expose him.
He’s too late to realise that the danger is closer to him than he thinks.
Determined to know the truth, Blake starts searching for clues.
A while later, he realises that Krista is the real Whitney Cross. She had decided to set up Blake because he cheated on her. The woman renting the room is Amanda, who stole Whitney’s identity.
Krista had manipulated Amanda into renting the room and helping her plan Blake’s death. She also planned the sabotage, framing Blake for committing murder to completely ruin his life!
In the final act, Amanda and Blake turn against Krista, thwarting her carefully orchestrated plan, ultimately leading to the latter’s death.
