Founded in 2015, Pehchaan The Street School is a non-profit organisation based in Delhi-NCR, dedicatedly trying its best to bridge the massive gap between education and opportunities for several underprivileged students.
It has been operating for eleven years without any government support, thanks to the humbleness of the noble citizens who decide to contribute in any way possible, be it through volunteering, internships or generous donations.
The Impact of Summer and Heat Waves on Children
Climate change is one of the most concerning issues these days. A rapid increase in Earth’s temperature is causing long-term effects on our environment.
Summer significantly affects children both physically and mentally. High temperatures can trigger irritability and extensive mood swings. A third of the world’s little ones experience 4-5 heat waves per year on average.
According to UNICEF, by 2050, almost every child in the world, with the number amounting to nearly 2.2 billion, will be exposed to frequent heat waves.
As the sun peaks during June and July, it is important to take preventive measures to keep children away from the hostile effects of heat waves.
The Major Crisis in Physical Health
A heat index at or above 90°F, as identified by the National Weather Service, can be dangerous, especially to children.Young minds are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses like stroke and nausea.
Kids lose fluid more rapidly as they are highly invested in playing, leading to dehydration and muscle cramps. Warmer weather increases sensitivity towards infections such as viral fevers and stomach issues.

Pehchaan Street School continues its summer drive initiative to ensure students have access to a safe and comfortable learning environment this season. The initiative aims to support 1600+ students by providing an array of amenities.
Fans for Classrooms: Necessity Now More than Ever
A hot classroom can make students irritated and easily distracted. Fans keep the cool air maintained by providing ventilation. Moving air helps sweat dry faster, helping students focus on their studies.
Our infrastructure provides a well-ventilated classroom for stress-free teaching.
The Availability of ORS, Water Bottles, and Cold Drinking Water
Students get dehydrated easily. ORS (Oral rehydration solution) is a special solution that helps us maintain the electrolyte balance in our bodies. Pehchaan The Street School is providing an adequate amount of ORS as well as water bottles to the learners to cope with this heat stroke.
Distribution of Caps and Other Summer Essentials
As the sun rays fall directly during peak summer, it is important to cover our heads and wear comfortable cotton clothes during summer. Underprivileged students sometimes lack this facility.
We are making sure that the availability of summer essentials is maintained for each student. After all, everyone deserves their share of care and kindness.

Pehchaan The Street School has arguably the best environment for study. Everything here is under the guidance of experts, with each student being provided a safe and homely atmosphere to ensure mutual connection amongst them.
While we have been doing our part for more than a decade, it hasn’t been a journey without its fair share of bumps.
The goodwill of volunteers and the general public has kept us going without major hiccups to make sure every child gets a level playing field.
